Bees & Pollinators: School Holiday Program

Tickets Still Available: Don’t Miss Out Book Now

We still have tickets available to the workshop Bees & Pollinators: School Holiday Program. Note these workshops are open for all kids 8-12 years old. The children need not be members or related to members of our bee club. So if you know a child that would love to learn a little more about bees and pollinators, we reckon you should have a look at this workshop.

Thanks to The Flow Hive People & Our Volunteers

With special thanks to the people at Flow Hive and our many volunteers, we are delighted to announce our club will be running some interactive workshops during the October 2018 school holidays for primary school-aged children aged 8 to 12 years old.

The aim of these workshops is to encourage children to be future eco-warriors. These junior bee enthusiasts will learn all about bees, pollinators and the important role they all play in our ecosystem. There will be many activities including dressing the children in protective clothing to inspect a hive. This will give children hands-on experience with a beehive and everything in it. Children will be supervised by experienced local beekeepers and will learn of the inner workings of a beehive. All children attending will get up close with the bees and discover honey, pollen, worker bees, drone bees, bee eggs, larvae and hopefully even queen bees.

We will also guide the children through making a pollinator habitat. A little like a hotel for Australian native stingless bees. These habitats attract native bees to gardens and give the bees an ideal and sheltered home for Australian native bees to thrive.

We will Provide

  • Protective clothing for children to inspect the hives
  • Morning or afternoon refreshments
  • Bee related games, videos, and giveaways for the children to take home and share with their friends and family

Number of Children per Session

Each session will be limited to about 15 children giving each child plenty of time to learn and ask lots of questions.
