If you’ve visited one of our club meetings, events or field days you’ve most likely sampled some of the Scones prepared by Margaret Mills. So after many requests from Margarets’ fans to share this recipe here it is. A very special thanks to Margaret for sharing her secrets.

4 Cups of Self Raising flour
300 mls water
300 mls carton cream
Pinch of salt

For Date scones
Chop 1 cup of dates and cover with boiling water. Let cool.
Reduce the amount of water in recipe by about 50 mls (250 ml not 300 ml)


  1. Mix everything together lightly and place in a rectangular tray.
  2. Pat into shape and cut into squares.
  3. Glaze tops.

  7. Bake in a hot oven for 12-15 minutes.
  8. Serve buttered or with whipped cream.
