January 2019 Field Day: A Beehive Inspection Checklist

This will be the first meeting of 2019. Lamorna and other experienced beekeepers will share and demonstrate beekeeping techniques.

We will cover the need to review hives as people tend to leave their bees be over the preceding holiday season. For example, check and deal with pests such as small hive beetle; disease and capacity to handle hopefully a nice honey flow; also to ensure surrounds are clear of grass, rubbish that may be combustible if fires should encroach the area.
